FAQ
Ordering & Personalization
What does "pixel-printed" mean?
Every Needlepoint & Chill design is exclusively created and pixel-printed directly onto premium Zweigart canvas right here in our Alabama home studio. This means your design comes pre-printed in vivid color, so you don't have to count threads from a paper pattern — you simply stitch the colors you see.
Will the colors line up perfectly with my stitches?
Needlepoint canvas has a natural texture and slight give to it, so every so often a printed color may fall just between two thread intersections rather than perfectly on one. This isn't a printing error — it's simply a natural quality of stitching on mesh. When this happens, you'll make a quick judgment call about which intersection to stitch. Most of our stitchers find this becomes intuitive within the first few rows, and many tell us it's one of their favorite parts of the process, since no two finished pieces are ever quite the same!
Can I personalize my canvas?
Many of our designs can be personalized with initials, a name, or a custom color choice. Look for the personalization note in the product description, then message us with your details after placing your order.
What's the difference between a Canvas and a Kit?
A Canvas includes just the printed canvas and a tapestry needle — you'll supply your own thread. A Kit includes everything you need to get started: the canvas (mounted on stretcher bars), a full thread set, and a needle — perfect for beginners and seasoned stitchers alike.
Stitching & Materials
What needle size should I use?
It depends on your canvas's mesh count: 14ct mesh pairs with a size 20 tapestry needle, and 18ct mesh pairs with a size 22 tapestry needle. Each product description lists the correct mesh and needle size for that design.
Do I need experience to stitch one of your canvases?
Not at all! Our designs are enjoyed by complete beginners and experienced stitchers alike. If you're new to needlepoint, we recommend starting with a smaller design or one of our beginner-friendly Kits.
How should I block my finished canvas?
We recommend dry blocking your canvas once you've finished stitching, rather than wet blocking. Dry blocking (using a blocking board, pins, and gentle steam from an iron held above the canvas rather than direct moisture) helps reshape your piece without risking damage to the printed design or thread colors.
Can I add stretcher bars to my canvas?
Yes! For canvases 8x10" or smaller, you can add stretcher bars at checkout, and we'll hand-stretch and tack your canvas before it ships. This option isn't available for canvases larger than 8x10".
